This is a heavily debated topic, and one that is going to be dependent on your own personal situation. Of course, you can learn a lot through the resources available on Youtube and the wealth of the internet these days. There is a lot more information than even just 5 years ago, and you may very well be able to put some pieces together and slowly gain experience on your own without investing in a trading education.

I do strongly believe that, in most cases, your trading journey will take longer and there may be a much longer learning curve if you try to tackle this on your own. Of course, it is possible, but without the proper resources all in one place and having direct access to a coach or mentor to help you and answer your questions, your progression will be slower. The stock market carries substantial risk and statistically most day traders lose money. If I was starting out as a brand new trader, I would want to give myself the best opportunity at success and that would be investing in a proper trading academy that also offers support while I am learning.
